This series of paintings depicts 10 individuals in abstract form.  The size of the canvases, 72 x 10”, is reminiscent of the human figure and conveys a narrow window into the person’s psychological landscape as I perceive and experience it.  Beginning each painting with an analytical and emotional understanding of the subject, I then let my intuition guide the evolution of the portrait.  The colors and forms interplay to reflect light and dark aspects of the individual and our relationship.  By avoiding traditional portraiture, I convey the essence of the subject, as I perceive him or her, rather than physical characteristics.  This, in turn, enables the viewer to experience the person beyond external trappings and traits and to connect on a deeper level with the subject.
