Snow White is the first painting in a conceptual series of self-portraits with apples. This painting grapples with the things we give and take in relationships: the good, the bad, and the mixed. Apples often symbolize health and wellness. Yet in the story of Snow White, the apple was a vehicle of poison and ill-will. Relationships are rarely, if ever, only loving or only hateful. This painting is my exploration of the nuance of the duality of love and hate, give and take in relationship.
